Viacom18 wins Women’s IPL media rights for Rs 951 crore

New Delhi: Viacom18 has won the Women’s IPL media rights for Rs 951 crore for next 5 years (2023-27).

The auction for the T20 League was conducted by the cricket board in Mumbai on Monday.

The global rights comprise three categories -- linear (TV), digital and combined (TV and digital). In the men's IPL, separate rights are sold across regions.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced the decision in a tweet.

The inaugural Women's IPL is likely to begin in the first week of March. Five teams will compete and all the matches will be held in Mumbai.

The deadline for the ITT for media rights ended on December 31.

Viacom18 also holds digital rights for Men's IPL from 2023-2027. Reliance-backed broadcast network led by top media executive Uday Shankar had in June 2022 bagged the digital rights for Rs 20,500 crore at the rate of Rs 50 crore per game.

Men's IPL TV rights went to Disney Star India for Rs 23,575 crore, at the rate of Rs 57.5 crore per game.

In total, BCCI would earn Rs 107.5 crore per match from Men's IPL media rights.

On the other hand, the Women's IPL media rights has fetched Rs 7.09 crore per match.
