New Delhi: Income tax regulations have vastly changed over the years. Taxpayers must submit an ITR-V if the tax return has not been verified by a digital signature or verification code.

The importance of a digital signature while filing an income tax return (ITR) can be felt more than ever before. If you have already submitted your ITR without using a digital signature, you will need to send your ITR-V to the Bureau's central processing centre in Bengaluru.

But, first and foremost, this form must be downloaded from the Income Tax Department's website. The tax branch will normally ship the shape to the taxpayer's e-mail deal as well. So, what is ITR-V?

For the unversed, ITR-V is the term used to refer to the confirmation form for ITR. The taxpayers sending online applications without a digital signature will receive this document from the department.

Income Tax assessing officers use the ITR-V to validate the authenticity of a tax return. The form can be downloaded from the department's website or from the email address to which the department has sent it. Taxpayers should know that if their return is not verified, it would be deemed not filed.

Steps to download ITR-V:

Step 1: You must have submitted your ITR and have your access data and password handy.
