Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag faced heat on the microblogging site Twitter after his congratulatory tweet for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) which defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets in Pune on Wednesday.
Australian pacer Pat Cummins ensured the victory with his surprise knock of 56 runs in 15 balls.
After Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the match against Mumbai Indians by five wickets, Sehwag tweeted, "Moonh se nivala cheen liya..sorry vada pav cheen liya. Pat Cummins, one of the most insane displays of clean hitting,15 ball 56 (sic).”
His tweet pointed to Mumbai's loved snack 'Vada Pav' which was snatched from Mumbai Indian players.
Sehwag's tweet sparked controversy and fans of Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma criticised the legendary opener for his 'Vada Pav' reference.
The trolling led to Sehwag issuing an explanation. He said,"The Vada Pav reference is for Mumbai, a city that thrives on Vada Pav. Rohit fans Thanda lo, I am a bigger fan of his batting much more than most of you guys."
