Zomato Delivery man sets Khan Market police station on fire, pelts stones

New Delhi: On Tuesday, Delhi police arrested a man named Mohammed Nadeem for setting a police station on fire. This incident happened at Khan Market when the accused allegedly set the police station on fire while he was in an inebriated state.

According to reports, three windowpanes were thrashed with stones and the accused even set up his bike on fire in order to light up the police station. This incident caused a lot of damage to the police station, its main gate has been completely destroyed.

Nadeem lives in Malviya Nagar and works for food delivery giant Zomato. As per reports, he got married recently only but for some reason, his marriage broke. The police also went on claiming that the accused was stressed and angry when he set the police station on fire.

On Saturday, Nadeem had gone to Khan Market to pick up an order when a woman complained that he was staring at her. Although no complaint was filed against him, the on-duty police officer took charge and went on to examine the whole scene. The police officer later slapped Nadeem. Infuriated by the whole chaos, Nadeem returned to the police station the following day and set his bike on fire.

A police officer confirmed “A call was received at around 7.30 am on Tuesday at Tughlak road police station regarding the burning of a bike in front of a police post at Khan Market. The police team immediately reached the spot and found Nadeem under the influence of liquor he was also very aggressive; however, the police team overpowered him. He damaged the police post’s window panes on three sides with bricks. He even put his bike and standees of police on ablaze”.

A video of Nadeem got viral in which While being in police detention, Nadeem could be seen making threats. "Sabke biwi bacchee pata hai mereko, yaha jitni bhi dukane hai, na sabke ghar jaanta hu mai. (Stay clear of me. I am aware of the residences of local business owners in Khan Market. All of these people's family members are people I know. He could be heard yelling harshly, Stay away”.

A case has been registered against Nadeem under sections 436 of the IPC (mischief by fire or any explosive substance), 285 of the IPC (negligent conduct), 278 of the IPC (making an atmosphere unhealthy), 283 of the IPC (causing danger, obstruction, or injury in any public way or line of navigation), and 506 of the IPC (criminal intimidation).
