23 candidates who received coaching and training in the Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have been selected in Civil Services this year.
In the UPSC Civil Services, 2021 final result declared Monday, Delhi’s Shruti Sharma has secured the All India Rank (AIR 1). Elated by her success, Sharma said she was confident about qualifying the UPSC exam but topping the merit list came as a surprise.
Sharma had prepared for the coveted Civil Services Examination at Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy in Delhi.
Jamia’s Vice-Chancellor, Najma Akhtar congratulated Sharma by saying that “Jamia Milia Islamia usually has the most number of selected candidates, and this year Shruti has brought laurels to the institute by topping the exam.” She congratulated Shruti especially for being a girl topper from Jamia and added that “people should realise that this age belongs to women now, and Shruti’s achievement, as well of those two other girls who earned AIR 2 and 3, have opened more opportunities for girls.”
A total of 52 students who studied at the Jamia Millia Islamia's Residential Coaching Academy have cleared the civil services mains exam, this year.
As many as 20 students coached at the Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy (JMI-RCA) had cleared the 2020 civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
In the year 2019, 30 candidates of RCA got success in the UPSC exam. Out of this, 25 candidates had received training by staying in RCA and 5 candidates had taken training in the mock interview programme.
Ever since its inception, RCA has produced over 245 civil servants and 376 got jobs in other Central and state services.
RCA was established in 2010 by the UGC under the aegis of Centre for Coaching and Career Planning (CC&CP), JMI to provide free coaching, and residential facilities to the students of SC, ST, Women, and Minorities for civil services and other competitive examinations.
