Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police wore its punning cap on the Yoga Day with a series of Twitter posts to create awareness on traffic rules.
In one such post, the UP Police emphasised the importance of 'Vahan me Anush-asan' (discipline while driving) with the post carrying a picture of people striking a yoga pose.
The tweet implored people to relax at red lights, railway tracks, no-honking zones, and zebra crossings.
In another tweet, the state police advised people to take slow breaths at red lights, holding breath when they turn yellow, and exhale slowly as they turn green.
Another post compared reckless driving to performing a headstand or 'shirshasana', which ultimately leads to 'shavasana' -- a death pose.
Special DG, Law and order, Prashant Kumar said with the posts the state police did not just mean to celebrate the International Yoga Day, but also remind people of the traffic safety rules.
"When it comes to social media messages, creativity has always been our ally in creating engaging content that captures the attention of the public.
"The posts on #InternationalYogaDay grabs the fleeting attention of social media users and attempts to divert it towards creating a meaningful impact," he said.
Additional SP ATS/Social Media in-charge, UP Police, Rahul Srivastav said that they tried to tap into the familiarity of people with Yoga.
