New Delhi (India): After a high-level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, regarding the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the Indian government has planned to send several Union Ministers to several European countries to oversee the evacuation process of stranded Indian citizens, especially students.
According to the plan, Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju, and Gen (retd) VK Singh will be travelling to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation.
While Scindia will overlook the procedures in Romania and Moldova, Rijiju will go to Slovakia, Puri will go to Hungary and Gen (retd) Singh will be in Poland to manage the evacuation.
The decision comes after PM Modi reviewed the ongoing evacuation process on Sunday.
Several ministers attended yesterday’s meeting, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, apart from senior officials. (With agency inputs)
