When the girl confronted the staffer, she was allegedly assaulted.

After this incident, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) issued a statement and said that if anyone gets hurt, they apologise.

SGPC General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal tried to give tricolour a political colour while tendering an apology over this incident.

“The flag on her face was not our national flag because it did not have the Ashoka Chakra. It seemed to be a political flag,” Grewal said.

Grewal was also offended by people tweeting about the incident.

“It is a matter of shame that people are tweeting. We respect all the devotees who come here from across the country and abroad.”

Grewal played the victim card by saying that Sikhs also played an important role in the independence of the country, but every time only Sikhs are targeted.

Grewal said, “This is a Sikh religious place, every religious place has its own dignity. We welcome everyone. We apologize if any officer has misbehaved.”
