Stalin also invited her to the inaugural of the year-long centenary celebrations (2023-24) of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi (1924-2018) and she has consented to take part in both the events on June 5, 2023, an official release said. The Chief Minister visited the President at the Rashtrapathi Bhawan in Delhi.

On June 3, 2021, the 97th birth anniversary of Karunanidhi, Stalin had announced that a multi-super specialty hospital would be set up on the premises of King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research at Guindy in Chennai.

At a cost of Rs 230 crore, the construction of the state-of-the-art 1,000-bed hospital in about 51,429 square meters --ground and six floors-- has been completed. The centenary celebration's inaugural is to be held at YMCA Ground in Chennai on June 5, 2023.
