Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Hyderabad Police, probing the leak of question paper of State Public Service Commission is expected to file a charge sheet in the case soon.
A total of 50 people, including some employees of Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), few candidates, have been arrested so far since March 13 over their alleged involvement in the data breach -- for stealing and leaking question papers of TSPSC's Assistant Engineer (Civil) examination, among other exams.
Some of the accused are out on bail.
"Legal opinion has been taken and the charge sheet will be filed in a day or two hopefully," a senior SIT official told PTI on Thursday.
Asked against how many accused they are contemplating to file the charge sheet, the official said it is being finalised. The official further said they have collected sufficient evidence including forensic against the accused besides they have evidence pertaining to money transactions and exchange of leaked question papers.
The SIT has examined several witnesses and more arrests are likely to be made during further investigation into the case.
The SIT had earlier recorded the statement of the TSPSC Chairman at his office here, as a witness in the case. The Secretary and a member of the TSPSC have also appeared before the SIT and their statements were recorded after notices were issued earlier to them.
The TSPSC on March 15 cancelled the Assistant Engineers (AE) exam held on March 5, following allegations that the question paper had been leaked.
Amid massive protests by Congress, BJP and other opposition parties and students groups over the leakage of a question paper of a recruitment test, the TSPSC had earlier cancelled the Group-I Preliminary Examination and other recruitment tests.
The Enforcement Directorate too had registered 'Enforcement Case Information Report’ (ECIR) in connection with the case.
