Mumbai (Maharashtra, India): NCP leader Nawab Malik was on Monday discharged from the JJ Hospital in Mumbai after which he will be taken to the ED office for further questioning.
The Maharashtra minister was admitted to the hospital on 25 February.
Malik has been remanded to ED custody till March 3 in connection with Dawood Ibrahim's money laundering case
Angered by the arrest of Nawab Malik, State Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other ministers also staged a sit-in on Thursday, while the former had said after the arrest, “I will fight, I will not be afraid.”
Malik has been in the news for the last few months, ever since he made personal and service-related allegations against Sameer Wankhede, former director of Mumbai Zone of anti-drug regulatory authority NCB.
Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan was also arrested by the NCB last year in a narcotics case.
Malik was arrested after the ED conducted raids in Mumbai on February 15 and registered a fresh case in connection with underworld activities, alleged illegal purchase, and sale of properties, and hawala transactions. (With agency inputs)
