Voter turnout recorded at 48.88% till 1 pm in first phase of polls

Imphal (Manipur, India): On the first day of polling in Manipur on Monday, around 48.88 per cent of voter turnout was registered in 38 out of the total 60 seats in the state.

The polling began at 7 am and will continue till 4 pm.

The first phase of polls covers 29 seats in Manipur's valley districts -- Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur. The rest are in the hill districts of Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Pherzawl.

Several incidents of poll disruption have been reported in many places, including Keithelmanbi, which further delayed the poll process.
