Eknath Shinde with Devendra Fadnavis at the press conference

Eknath Shinde will become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis announced in a press conference.

Shinde will take oath at 7.30 PM today.

Annoucing the surprising move, former Maharashtra CM Fadnavis said that this is BJP's tribute to Balasaheb Thackeray.

Key points of the press conference:

Fadnavis:

- The mandate of the people was insulted by forming MVA govt.

- People didn't vote for MVA but Shivsena-BJP alliance.

- In MVA govt, all the development works had come to halt. That govt was full of corruption. Two ministers are in jail for the first time in Maharahstra

- Balasaheb Thackeray always targetted Dawood Ibrahim, the dreaded Don. But they share power with those who had relations with Don.

- All the Shiv Sena MLAs fought whole life against NCP and Congress leaders. They were devoid of any funds due to pressure from these leaders. Hence, they took the decision of leaving MVA govt.

- In this situation, when Uddhav ji resigned, we came forward to give an alternate govt. I always used to say that such governments do not run. I also said that we will not force mid-term polls on common man.

- So today, we as BJP legislative group and Shiv Sena legislative group along with group of Independent MLAs have claimed stake for the new govt.

- Eknath Shinde will be CM and only he will take oath today at 7.30 pm.

- Then we will expand. I will be out of the govt but will be taking care of the govt from outside.
