The e-auction for the IPL media rights is said to have concluded for TV and digital rights for the Indian subcontinent almost where it was left on Day-1.
Media reports quoting sources suggest that the TV rights and digital rights have been won by two different companies and the TV rights winner has the right to challenge the latter.
BCCI has increased the number of matches for the next cycle (2023-27) by about 30 per cent -- from the previous 314 (60+60+60+60+74) games to 410 (74+74+84+84+94) matches.
So far, the TV and digital rights have fetched a total of Rs 43,255 crore with TV closing at Rs 23,575 crore from the base price of Rs 18,130 crore and digital closing at Rs 19,680 crore versus the reserve price of Rs 12,210 crore.
For Package C and D, the BCCI is expecting roughly Rs 5500 crore.
The market watchers are saying that Zee could come hard for Package D as it has already got an overseas dedicated viewership base with its Zee TV serials and now they also have their ZEE5 app.
"With Rs 3 crore as base price, Zee could up their game in that category," PTI said quoting a source.
