New Delhi: The newly launched Vande Bharat Express met with an accident on Thursday morning when the fast-moving train collided with a herd of buffaloes came on the railway tracks.
The accident took place around 11:20 A.M. when the train was between Gairatpur and Vavta Railway stations. While no functional part of the train was damaged, the frontal part of the engine came out.
The railway spokesperson said that the train started running again just after removing the carcasses of the cattle. In fact, the train again caught speed and it reached Gandhinagar station on time. The spokesperson even said that they've been trying to counsel the villagers to not leave their cattle on train tracks.
On Wednesday, the western railway department made an announcement saying that they have reduced the travelling time of the newly launched Vande Bharat express which runs between Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar. According to the issue released by the department, Vande Bharat express will take five minutes less to reach Gandhinagar while it will take twenty minutes less to reach Mumbai Central station.
This semi-high-speed train was flagged off on 30th September by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Vande Bharat Express 2.0 offers an aircraft-like experience. It is also equipped with best-in-class safety features including an indigenously developed Train collision avoidance system- KAVACH. The train can reach a speed of 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in a matter of 52 seconds.
Moreover, the train has an on-demand WIFI facility and every coach is equipped with 32" screens which provide information and infotainment.
