Varanasi court orders sealing of the area of Gyanvapi complex where Shivling was found

In a significant development, a Varanasi court has ordered to seal the place/area where the court-appointed commissioner has found Shivling. The survey team apprised the court about the Shivling on Monday.

The District Magistrate, Varanasi is ordered to immediately seal the place where the Shiva linga is found and the entry of any person is prohibited in the sealed place, the court said.

India Today reported that the shivling is 12 feet by 8 inches in diameter. An advocate from the Hindu side, Madan Mohan Yadav, claimed that the shivling is Nandi faced.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is likely to hear the Anjuman Intazamia Masjid Committe's appeal against the Varanasi Court's order directing survey of Gyanvapi mosque.
