New Delhi: Domestic LPG cylinder prices increased by Rs 50 per cylinder, up 4.7% from the last price after nine months.
Non-subsidised LPG -- the price that all households except the poor women beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme pay, is now at Rs 1,103 per 14.2 kg cylinder.
Rs 200 per cylinder subsidy on cooking gas is given to 9 crore poor women and other beneficiaries who got free connections under the Ujjwala scheme.
The prices of 19 kg Commercial LPG cylinder has also gone up by Rs 350.50.
With this increase, a 19 kg commercial cylinder will cost Rs 2119.50 in Delhi.
New rates are effective from Wednesday.
The previous hike in the rate of LPG cylinders was done on July 6, 2022, when LPG rates were hiked by Rs 50 per 14.2-kg cylinder, taking the total increase in last one year to Rs 244 or 30 per cent.
Last month, the Centre told the Lok Sabha that it did not allow the cost of domestic LPG to increase despite the Saudi contract price went up by 330 per cent.
India relies on overseas purchases to meet about 85 per cent of its oil requirement, making it one of the most vulnerable in Asia to higher oil prices. While India has surplus oil refining capacity, it does not manufacture enough LPG to meet domestic demand and imports significant quantities from nations such as Saudi Arabia.
