New Dehli: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed her nomination today for the by-election in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, a seat her brother Rahul Gandhi vacated earlier this year. However, what caught the media's attention was not just her candidacy but the noticeable absence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge during the high-profile event.
The nomination filing was marked by a massive roadshow in Kalpetta, where thousands gathered to show their support. Accompanying Priyanka were her brother Rahul Gandhi, mother Sonia Gandhi, and other key Congress leaders, showcasing a united family front.
Yet, Kharge's absence has sparked a massive row.
While no official statement has been released by Kharge or his office explaining his absence, a video of the Congress president attempting to sneak into the nomination room went viral.
Sharing the video on X, former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused the Congress of mistreating its president and wondered how the Congress would treat the people of Wayanad if they treat senior Dalit leader and party president like this.
