New Delhi: Senior Bihar cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Vikas Vaibhav has been served a show cause notice by Home Guards and Fire Services department for levelling charges of being abused by his senior officer Shobha Ohatkar.
Vaibhav is the Inspector General in the home guards and fire service department of Bihar and Ohatkar is Director General.
Vaibhav had tweeted on February 9 that his “DG Madam” has been abusing him even though he was trying to fulfil his duties with all his capabilities.
Even though Vaibhav, a 2003 batch IPS officer known for impeccable integrity, deleted the tweet immediately but it was picked up by his lakhs of followers and went viral.
The show cause notice has alleged that Vaibhav violated service rules by defaming his senior on social media.
Vaibhav had also hinted in a now-deleted tweet that he had some sort of recording of the alleged abuse hurled at him by the senior officer Ohatkar who is the 1990-batch IPS officer.
It has been alleged in the show cause notice that Vaibhav allegedly violated Official Secrets Act by recording the conversations.
Vaibhav is very popular among the younger population of the state due to his work through the voluntary organisation "Let’s Inspire Bihar".
Sources claim that Vaibhav is being targeted by some elements in the state government in a very “uncivilised” manner.
