Lucknow: Thirty-one people of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions of Uttar Pradesh are among those rescued under Operation Kaveri – the campaign to repatriate Indians trapped in Africa's Sudan, which is currently in the grip of a civil war.
According to a press statement issued by the state government, of these, 12 are from Deoria, 13 are from Kushinagar, five are from Gorakhpur, and one is from Siddhartha Nagar.
The UP government is in constant touch with the team of the Ministry of External Affairs, a spokesman said in a statement.
Chief Minister Adityanath has instructed officials to arrange for food for the evacuees and their travel back home upon their arrival, he said in the statement.
The 31 evacuees reached Sahjanwa village here by bus Thursday afternoon.
