The news channel termed the arrest as revenge for its operation Sheeshmahal.

No journalists' association, including the Editors' Guild of India, has come forward to speak against the actions of the Aam Aadmi Party's government in Punjab as of now. (Update: The Editors Guild of India was among other scribes' bodies issuing statements later on Saturday.)

According to a police press note, the complainant was also en route to the Mohalla Clinic inauguration when the car in which the Times Now reporter was travelling hit her. Kishore was arrested for rash driving and hurling casteist abuses at the complainant.

However, Times Now Navbharat said that its female reporter Kishore was not behind the wheel during the time of the incident.

"Kishore was taken away in a car by a male cop before a flimsy FIR was filed against her in Ludhiana's Section 3 Division Police Station. It was also noted that the said cop was not wearing a nameplate displaying his name while taking Kishore," Times Now Navbharat said.
