New Delhi: Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Monday said that the attack on a hotel in Shar-e-Naw district of Kabul ended with the death of 3 attackers. According to him, all hotel guests were saved and no foreigner was killed.
Mujahid added that all the guests of the hotel were saved and no foreigners were harmed, only two foreign guests were injured when they threw themselves from the building.
Earlier, suspected suicidal gunmen attacked Longan Hotel in downtown, Shar-e-Naw, a commercial hub of Kabul, a security spokesperson said.
Kabul Security Department’s Spokesman Khalid Zadran said a compound called “Kabul Hotel," in which the ordinary people are living, came under attack by “devil” elements. According to Zadran, security forces have arrived in the area and a clearing operation is underway.
Zadran said further details will be shared later as the operation continues. The area has been cordoned and massive searches are launched.
Kabul Hotel, a multi-storey complex, is popular with Chinese business people visiting Afghanistan.
China, which shares a rugged 76-kilometre (47-mile) border with Afghanistan, has not officially recognised the Taliban government but is one of the few countries to maintain a full diplomatic presence there.
The Taliban have promised that Afghanistan would not be used as a base for militants and, in exchange, China has offered economic support and investment for Afghanistan's reconstruction.
The attacks in Kabul in the last few months have increased and most of the attack's responsibility has been taken by the Islamic State.
