New Delhi: Another fresh earthquake of magnitude 7.6 struck Elbistan district in Kahramanmaraş Province in southern Turkey, Turkey's Anadolu news agency said citing country's disaster agency.
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the magnitude of the latest shock that occurred around 1024 GMT at 7.5 magnitude, with a depth of just 10 kilometers. Shallow earthquakes cause more damage.

The powerful earthquake, second in a day, also rattled Damascus, Latakia, other Syrian provinces, according to Syrian news agency SANA.

Earlier on Monday morning, a quake measuring 7.8 magnitude, felt as far away as Cairo, was centered north of the city of Gaziantep in an area about 90 kilometers (60 miles) from the Syrian border.
