On the occasion of National Cinema Day, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has taken the initiative to offer viewers film tickets for Rs 75 per ticket only on Friday, September 23, 2022. Not just that, film buffs are also up for a special surprise lined up for them.
The celebrations of National Cinema Day which were initially planned to take place on September 16 have now been postponed to September 23 because of consistent persuasion of Disney, the makers of Brahmastra.
It is expected that millions of viewers will reach movie theatres all over the country.
From over 11,000 multiplexes and single-screen movie theatres, 4,000 theatres will be taking part in the initiative to attract audiences so that they come back to theatres.
Kamal Gianchandani, MAI President and CEO of PVR, said, “On average, there are 400 seats per auditorium, which makes around four million seats available in the country for filmgoers. From this, nearly 16,000 seats shall participate in the NCD.”
The participating halls include PVR, INOX, Carnival, Miraj, Cinepolis, City Pride, Asian, Delite, Mukta A2, Movietime, Wave, M2K and some single-screen theatres from all over the country. Major films like KGF Chapter 2, Bhool Bhulaiya, RRR, Vikram, Bhahmastra, Doctor Strange, Top Gun: Maverick and several other films will be screened for only Rs 75.
Gianchandani added, “The multiplexes may also make their own special offers, for people of all age groups, exclusions to welcome the people to the cinema that day, but we can’t reveal the details now”.
While many people might consider this initiative taken by MAI to be a desperate move to bring people back to movie theatres, it is indeed a smart move to attract the audience and encourage them to go out and spend quality time with their loved ones instead of being glued to their phones.
Although this initiative will take place at the country level, which means that people across the country can enjoy this offer, it will be limited to September 23 only.
