New Delhi: Recently Forbes report came out stating how Rapper Kanye West has lost his billionaire status after big brands including Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga cut ties with him.
But the interesting and quite surprising thing is the reactions of the fans. Apparently, West’s fans have taken a pledge to make him a billionaire again and for that they trying to raise 1 billion dollars through crowdfunding.
One of West’s fans Jeremy Piatt has started a fundraiser on Go fund me to raise 1 billion dollars for the rapper and many people are contributing amounts as per their wishes.
So far 886 donors have made a contribution and the fans have been able to raise $57,398.
Adidas had released a statement responding to Kanye West’s anti-sematic remarks.
In the statement, the brand said “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.”
After Adidas cut ties with him and his Yeezy collection, the rapper lost his status as a
billionaire.
The brand said, “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
According to Forbes’ report quoted by Page Six, the rapper’s net worth after Adidas cut ties with him has decreased to USD 400 million. Interestingly, the Yeezy deal itself accounted for USD 1.5 billion of West’s net worth.
The rapper was continuously losing his deals as previously Balenciaga withdrew their partnership with him followed by Adidas. But what came as a surprise was Kanye’s response to some questions he was asked while speaking to TMZ. In his interview, Kanye’s said “I ain’t losing no money… The day I was taken off the Balenciaga site was one of the most freeing days.”
Furthermore, he said that it’s not easy to cancel him- “We here, baby, we ain’t going anywhere.”
In fact, West recently hired Camille Vasquez, Johnny Depp’s lawyer to handle business concerns but the lawyer refused to work with him as he did not retract the statement he made on anti-semitism.
