Legacy blue ticks given in corrupt way, will remove all: Elon Musk

New Delhi: On a day when Twitter Blue resumed its subscription service after a month, Elon Musk lamented on the legacy blue ticks for being given out in a corrupt manner.

Earlier on Monday, Twitter announced that its Twitter Blue subscription service is back.

The subscription to Twitter Blue service was temporarily suspended for about a month owing to failure in keeping a check on impersonating verified accounts against a subscription fee of $8 per month.

The Twitter Blue service will now cost $11 per month for iOS users while it is available for $8 on web.

Responding to a user asking for ad free service, Musk hinted about introducing a higher tier of Blue with no ads. 

Basic Blue will have half the number of ads. We will offer a higher tier with no ads next year.

How to subscribe to Twitter Blue

New subscriptions to Twitter Blue are currently available on web only in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, with plans to expand, said the Twitter Blue blog. 

“Not all features are available on all platforms. Newly created Twitter accounts will not be able to subscribe to Twitter Blue for 90 days.”

Twitter Blue to cost more on iOS

​​Twitter Blue subscribers who joined for $7.99 on iOS will be notified by Apple that they're subscription will be automatically renewed for $11/month unless they choose to cancel their subscription. 

Those who initially subscribed on iOS for $2.99 or $4.99/month will need to upgrade their subscription for $8/month on web or $11/month on iOS, or lose their subscription.

Previous Twitter Blue subscribers should manage their subscription on the platform they subscribed on, in which case they will get the service through the end of their current billing period, or their subscriptions will be canceled with notice.
