Anand Mahindra owes his career to Scorpio as it stares at 1 mn milestone

New Delhi: As Mahindra Scorpio is staring at reaching a new milestone of one million deliveries, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra Saturday said that the board would have fired him had the SUV flopped and he owes his career to it.

Responding to a tweet from Autocar’s Hormazd Sorabjee, Mahindra wrote, “We’ve come a long way since then! But this trusty warhorse has always been at our side, ready to ride into battle with us. If it had flopped, the board would have fired me. So I owe my career to it!”

Scorpio reached a milestone of 9 lakh units of production earlier this week with the company sitting on a total of 1.17 lakh pending orders.

This milestone comprises the entire Scorpio range which includes Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic.

Mahindra launched the Scorpio SUV in 2002. 

For FY 2023, sales of Scorpio and Scorpio N reached a total of 76,935 units, up 99% YoY.
